A career in creativity is never a straight line—it’s a serpentine path guided by effort, skillset, and chance. Oftentimes, the card you draw can inform your entire career trajectory. In this talk, we’ll explore the potential paths for creatives in advertising and marketing using Tarot Cards as an organizing principle. That may sound weird and a little bit scary, but then again, so is advertising. 

Desmon LaVelle's Bio: 

Originally from Omaha, Desmond LaVelle is a longtime creative leader who’s worked on the agency side, in-house, and in tech. His experience includes stints at Leo Burnett and FCB as SVP Creative Director and Meta as a Global Creative Lead. Until recently, he was Chief Creative Officer at Peter Mayer in New Orleans (in case you were wondering where his affinity for Tarot comes from). Last year, Desmond and his family relocated to their beloved Chicago where he’s currently consulting and working to establish himself as a commercial director. When he’s not working, he’s writing airport paperbacks about murder, hanging out with his daughter, and attending Cubs games.
